5 Signs You’re Dating a Real Man and Not a Boy

    November 6, 2017

Age has nothing to do with it.  Older men can still act in ways that qualify them as boys.  So how can you tell if you’re dating a real man or a boy?

In this case, we’re using the following definition for “Man”:  one possessing in high degree the qualities considered distinctive of manhood

So how can you tell if the guy you’re dating is a real man or a man-child?

    His conversations

What do you guys talk about when you’re together?  Do your conversations revolve around him and his interests?  Around sex?  Or are your conversations more balanced? Is he also interested in what’s going on in your life?  Does he talk about motivating and uplifting things as well?

    You know where you stand

A real man will not leave you guessing where your relationship stands.  Are you just friends?  Are you dating?  Are you friends with benefits?  Where is the relationship going?

A real man will not give you a vague answer when you seek to define what kind of relationship you have.  You will know where you stand and that will help with your peace of mind as there will be no guessing game as to his intentions.

    He’s a provider

A real man provides for those he loves.  You won’t find a man in front of the TV, playing videogames all day after you’ve just come home from working a 10-hour shift.  A man will be out there doing everything he can to provide materially for his significant other.  And if he doesn’t have a job, he’ll be doing everything he can to find one – filling out resumes, asking friends if they know of any job openings, getting more education, etc.

Providing doesn’t only have to mean financially either.  If the car or something in the house needs fixing, does he make sure it’s taken care of?  If he can’t fix it, does he get someone who can?

A man who puts all the burden of providing on his partner is not a man at all.  A relationship is made up of two people; you shouldn’t feel like you’re the only one taking care of everything.

    He’s respectful

A real man respects the woman in his life.  He shows his respect by seeking out and listening to your opinions.  He takes your feelings into consideration when making decisions.  He lets you know what’s going on his life.  He shows that he values his time with you.

A man is not only respectful of the woman in his life, he shows respect for those he interacts with on a day to day basis as well.

    He’s honest/trustworthy

A real man will not have you mentally questioning everything he says or does.  You will not be wondering, for example, if he’s ignoring your texts because he’s with another woman. When you ask him a question, you will be confident that the answer he’s giving you is an honest one.  He will make you feel secure in the relationship because you know that you can trust him.
